TRICARE Reserve Select

As a result of the 2006 NDAA, TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) has been made available to most Selected Reservists. The current TRS program is a three tier, premium based coverage system. Changes are coming to the three tier system. As a result of the 2007 NDAA, the three tier system will be eliminated around 1 October 2007. The new TRS program will be based on the former Tier One premium base and will be more affordable to a wider range of Selected Reservists. DOD is in the process now to formulate policy guidance for the new system. Keep monitoring the Association’s website for details as October 2007 approaches.

Premium Update: Effective Jan. 1, 2009, TRICARE reduced the rates for TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS). Monthly premiums for TRS individual coverage dropped 44 percent from $81.00 to $47.51, and TRS family coverage dropped 29 percent from $253.00 to $180.17.
 

For Mobilized Reservists

If you are in receipt of mobilization order in support of a contingency operation, you are eligible for certain health care benefits.  These benefits include pre-mobilization health care, family health care and post mobilization care.
