Sen. Daines Confirmed For AUSN Capitol Hill Reception May 1
Sen. Steve Daines (MT) will be honored by AUSN at the annual Capitol Hill Reception on May 1, and the Senator has confirmed he will accept the award in person, joining Rep. Joe Courtney (CT) as the reception’s two honorees. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. in Room 2060 at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. It is free to attend, and you can register here. Sen. Daines is being honored for his tireless work in supporting the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act, which would provide benefits to Navy veterans who did not set foot on the ground in Vietnam but were exposed to the herbicide Agent Orange while on ship.
Congress Designates April 18, 2019 As ‘Military Retiree Appreciation Day’
Congress has passed a resolution (S.Res.118) that designates April 18, 2019 as “Military Retiree Appreciation Day.” The bipartisan measures recognizes “the importance of paying tribute to those individuals who have faithfully served and retired from the Armed Forces of the United States.” On this day, people of the United States are encouraged to honor the past and continued service of military retirees to their local communities and the United States.
