The third Friday of September is National POW/MIA Day. The Association of the United States Navy would like to take this time to honor and recognize our nation’s soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while defending our country’s freedom. It is through their sacrifice that America has endured. We stand with the families of the 81,900 service members who are still missing, and we will never forget them.
Whether in the fields and forests of France in 1918, the Indo-Pacific seas in 1942, the jungles of Vietnam in 1969, or the deserts and mountains of the Middle East in 2006, those who have been taken prisoner by enemy combatants displayed a courage and resilience which is incomparable — a courage and resiliency which is rooted in pride of service and country, a characteristic which cannot be taught, only learned.
AUSN stands with all Prisoners of War and Missing in Action. Sailor, Soldier, Marine, and Coast Guardsman, AUSN will never forget.
