The Vietnam Veterans of America has published an extensive report following a two-year investigation into foreign entities who are targeting troops and veterans online. The full 192-page report is available on their website.
The entities are trying to spread disinformation, commit identity theft and financial fraud, and sow division, the report found.
The report discovered that foreign elements from more than 30 countries were targeting troops and veterans, from Russian to Iran to Pakistan.
Some examples of their activities include:
- The Facebook page ‘Vets for Trump’ was hijacked by a North Macedonian businessman. It took months for the owners to get it back.
