Biography — MCPO Paul Dillon (USN, Ret.)
Master Chief Dillon brings 21 years of experience with RAOs to this webinar. He served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years before retiring on Nov. 30, 1980, as a Master Chief Radioman.
Assignments while on active duty included various afloat and shore commands. During the Vietnam War period 1967-1970 served as Message Center Chief for the Commander Seventh Fleet embarked in the USS Providence (CLG-6) and USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5) respectively. During this time awarded among other awards, the Vietnamese Navy Meritorious Service Medal from the South Vietnamese Government. Other tours included assignments in Newport, RI, Scotland, Iceland and New London, CT. Served as the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Command for the Naval Communication Station Iceland. While at the Submarine Base, New London, served as the Base Communication Officer.
Upon retirement in 1980 employed by Sonalyst Inc. and in 1983 employed by Northeast Utilities as a telecommunication manager at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station. Retired from Northeast Utilities in 1997. Following retirement, in 1998 volunteered at the Naval Submarine Base New London, CT Retired Activities Office (RAO) and currently serves as its Director. Plays a vital part in yearly briefings of Military Retirees in Connecticut and surrounding States. Served on former US Representative Rob Simmons’ Veterans Advisory Council and presently serves on Congressman Joe Courtney’s Veterans Advisory Council. Served on the now defunct Board of Directors for the National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS). Also served as the NAUS Vice President for the Northeast Region. In this capacity advocated for the protection of military retiree and veterans benefits throughout the New England States. In 2012, inducted into the Connecticut Veteran’s Hall of Fame in recognition of service to Retirees and their Dependents. Appointed to a three year term to the Secretary of the Navy Retiree Council, effective 1 January 31, 2018. He presently serves as the President of the Nautilus Chapter of the Association of the United States Navy.
