A Tribute to Valor: AUSN and Naval Organizations Unite for the 82nd Battle of Midway Celebration

Updated: Oct 17

The Anniversary of the Battle of Midway was commemorated with a formal dinner at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia on June 3, 2024. This year marked the 82nd year of the dinner, which was sponsored by Association of the U.S. Navy (AUSN) along with 12 other naval organizations.

Vice Admiral John Mustin, USN Chief of Navy Reserve, gave the keynote address. As the commander of the Navy Reserve Force, he leads approximately 59,000 Reserve Component personnel who support the Navy, Marine Corps and joint forces.

This is one of the finest events I ever attended. The education and inspiration all the speakers provided in their remarks should be heard by every American, especially our youth!!” remarked AUSN Operations Manager, Steve Rogers. Rogers represented the Association of the U.S. Navy at the event.

The Battle of Midway took place June 4, 1942. The U.S. Fleet, even though they were outnumbered and outgunned off Midway, successfully defeated the Imperial Japanese Navy.

This major victory marked an important turning point in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Not long after the Battle of Midway, the allies would engage the axis powers in the Pacific Ocean.
