The Association of the U.S. Navy (AUSN), headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is seeking dedicated volunteers to join its team of Veteran Service Officers (VSOs). If you’ve ever wanted to volunteer to help a fellow Navy Veteran and family members navigate the complex landscape of benefits, services, and support, this is the role for you.
Our existing VSOs are already helping veterans with crucial tasks, such as obtaining their DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty). This essential document, issued by the Department of Defense upon retirement, separation, or discharge from active duty, is a vital key for veterans seeking VA benefits, employment, and other assistance.
Our mission goes far beyond paperwork. Many Veterans struggle with issues related to adjusting to civilian life, finding employment that matches their skills and talents, and other challenges. This is where our volunteers can truly make an impact. By providing knowledgeable guidance, VSOs can connect Veterans and their families with help and resources they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
If you are passionate about supporting Navy Veterans and their families, we encourage you to consider becoming a VSO. Your role as a volunteer will be crucial in helping Veterans overcome obstacles and access the benefits they’ve earned through their service. To learn more or to express your interest in becoming a VSO, please contact AUSN Executive Director Steve Rogers.
