We have an outstanding panel featuring AUSN Board Member David Vardeman and NS2 Serves executives Col. Adam Rocke and Frank Larkin, who have extensive backgrounds in helping service members transition. Their full bios are below.

Mr. David W. Vardeman

David is currently responsible for outbound Business Development and Networking in the GWR Region supervising eight employees—including a minority Asian Division. He has a triangle of goals involving individual, team, and staff objectives requiring self-management, coaching, and ongoing strategic planning. Over the last 2 years, David has facilitated and managed at a pace over 125%, producing over 100 million in overall sales. This required constant outreach (75-100 Events in 2016 attended) which has built an extensive network in the business and military community.

David specializes in Not for Profit Banking and has focused on the military community. David has personally focused Capital Bank’s philanthropic outreach to the military community (all arms) trying to impact as many issues as possible. Military Not for Profits which currently bank at Capital Bank are extensive and ongoing development/networking participation continues to expand. He is often asked for help in strategic planning for Association, Membership Base NFPs, and donation/special event fundraising planning for numerous NFPs.

A natural move to Military Government Contracting has begun and will only expand network of leaders within his web of connections and advocates. Over the next two years, this will allow pollination of Military Owned Businesses and introductions to their Military Arm (Not for Profit) interest. David’s team’s focus on both For Profit and Not for Profit Industry is allowing an extensive net of opportunity for those who Bank at Capital Bank. A military symposium is done annually which will be focused on bringing Military Not for Profits and Military Government Contractors together for common interest and extensive networking.

Col. Adam Rocke (USA, Ret.)

Adam Rocke recently retired as an Army Colonel and career Infantryman who served as Special Assistant to the Army Chief of Staff and as the Director of the Soldier for Life Program. He led the U.S. Army’s effort to create a network of enablers connecting Soldiers, Veterans, and families with employment, education, and healthcare required to successfully reintegrate into civilian society. To achieve this goal, he linked Army, government and community efforts to build relationships that support 135,000+ transitioning Soldiers and their families each year. Throughout his distinguished military career, Adam served in various infantry and special operations units from Platoon to Brigade with numerous deployments overseas supporting the War on Terror.

Adam continues his mission to assist service members and their families in his civilian career as the Managing Director of NS2 Serves, an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established by SAP National Security Services, Inc. designed to give back to the community it serves by training and employing veterans in high-tech careers. The course is open to post-9/11 U.S. military service veterans and reservists, transitioning service members, and Gold Star spouses who meet certain eligibility requirements. NS2 Serves provides training and employment assistance in a full- time, 8-12 week course, offering participants training in world-class software solutions that lead to certifications that support U.S. national security needs and commercial enterprises; thus leading to meaningful careers.

Adam is a staunch advocate for Veterans and their families and serves as a Personal Brand Ambassador for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring our Heroes Foundation, on the Board of Trustees at Home Builders Institute, as well as serving on the Association of the United States Army Retired Soldier and Veterans Affairs Committee, along with The American Legion Innovation Task Force on Veterans Employment and Training, and on a variety of other Advisory roles with Veteran-serving organizations.

Mr. Frank Larkin

Frank Larkin recently joined SAP National Security Services (SAP NS2) as Vice President for Corporate Development.

Prior to SAP NS2, Frank was the 40th United States Senate Sergeant at Arms. As chief law enforcement and executive officer of the Senate, the Sergeant at Arms enforces rules of the Senate; provides a range of technical and administrative services to Senators in their Washington D.C., and state offices; and maintains security in the Capitol and Senate office buildings.

Frank has been a member of the federal Senior Executive Service for more than 10 years, serving as both the Acting Director and the Vice Director of the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization and Director of the Counter IED Operations-Intelligence Integration Center within the Department of Defense.

Frank served for more than two decades as a special agent in the United States Secret Service (USSS). He conducted complex criminal investigations and protected four US presidents, until his retirement as the Deputy Assistant Director for Protective Research and the agency’s Chief Technology Officer.

In the private sector, Frank was Director, Program Management & Leadership, for the Raytheon Company, and more recently, worked at Lockheed Martin’s Defense & Intelligence Solutions responsible as a senior program manager for intelligence community support.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Frank served as a special warfare operator in the Navy SEALs. After his Navy service, he was a uniformed patrol officer with the Norristown (PA) Police Department, a homicide detective with the Montgomery County (PA) District Attorney’s Office, and a Maryland State Trooper-Flight Paramedic.

Frank holds a BA degree in criminal justice and a MS degree in public administration from Villanova University. He is the recipient of numerous awards, to include the USSS Valor award, the Department of the Army’s Exceptional Civilian Service award and the Superior Civilian Service award.
