AUSN Patriotism Awards – Presentations Around the County

During the spring and early summer, AUSN Patriotism Awards are presented to NROTC, NJROTC and Sea Cadets of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps students who demonstrate honor, courage and commitment.

Commanding officers and unit instructors nominate outstanding, high caliber students.  Two examples of such students are:

• Midshipman 1/C Ryan Marrione, George Washington University, received his Patriotism Award from CAPT Jean Marie Sullivan (USN), Professor, Department of Naval Science, George Washington University, and David Vardeman, Treasurer and Director on AUSN Board of Directors.
• C/PO1 Gabriel Gelhaar, Commander of the Armed Drill Team at Moon Valley High School JROTC in Phoenix, AZ, received his award from CAPT Carol Culbertson, USN (Ret.), President of the AUSN Phoenix Saguaro Chapter on April 25, 2025.
