Battle of Midway Victory Commemorated
The 83rd Anniversary of the 1942 victory at the Battle of Midway was commemorated with a wreath-laying ceremony at the U.S. Navy Memorial and at the annual Victory Dinner held June 4, 202, at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia.
Acting Chief of Naval Operations U.S. Navy Admi. James Kilby, joined by Rear Adm. David Faenhle, Commandant, Naval District Washington, DC, placed a wreath on the memorial in honor of the Americans who fought at the Battle of Midway. Kilby shared a quote about Midway from American historian Walter Lord, which stated, “Even against the greatest of odds, there is something in the human spirit – a magic blend of skill, faith, and valor – that can lift men from certain defeat to incredible victory.”
AUSN was represented at the Victory Dinner by AUSN Chairman Dan Feliz, Treasurer and Director David Vardeman, and Executive Director Steve Rogers.
